26 November 2008 -- Gidleigh Park, the luxury country hotel in Dartmoor where  Michael Caines MBE is Executive Head Chef and which is owned by Andrew and Christina Brownsword, claimed Gold in the Small Hotel of the Year  Category at the South West Tourism Excellence Awards.

Sue Williams, general manager of Gidleigh Park, said: "It's always an honour to be considered for these awards so to be awarded Gold for  Small Hotel of the Year is a real achievement.

"The South West Tourism Excellence Awards are a real benchmark for  quality, so we are all delighted. The dedicated team at Gidleigh Park has worked hard all year, so this award is a thank you for all their hard work and commitment."

The awards are organised in association with Enjoy England Awards for Excellence, First Great Western and South West Water. Gold award winners will go forward to the national Enjoy England Awards for Excellence, with results to be announced next April.
